Create this set of two tea towels on one warp. Great for gifts!
Degree of Difficulty: Easy. You will need to know how to hemstitch edges and weave weft floats and brooks bouquet. See my book, Woven Style for the 15” Rigid Heddle Loom, page 22, for hemstitching instructions and photos. Also see my YouTube video “Brooks Bouquet on Rigid Heddle”. Weft float technique is given in this pattern.
Approximate finished size of each is 13” x 25”
Materials: I used a hand dyed bamboo blend that is no longer available, but these would be great using Blue Heron’s Egyptian Mercerized Cotton which is a heavy lace weight, 100% cotton (2000 yards/lb). You will need 718 yards of 1 color for both warp and weft.
Equipment:
Rigid Heddle Loom with 15” minimum weaving width
12 dent reed
One stick shuttle
Pick up stick to accommodate 15”
Approximately 20 warp sticks to pack warp and to space the towels apart or scrap yarn to weave in between
